Bedrock mapping is underway in the upper Hyland River area of southeast Yukon (Frances Lake map area, 105H). The area lies close to the margin of Selwyn basin and hosts numerous mid-Cretaceous intrusions. Mineral occurrences include intrusion-related (and orogenic?) gold (e.g. Justin, 3-Ace), W-skarn, Cu-skarn and Pb-Zn-Ag skarn/veins. 1:50,000 scale bedrock mapping will establish the stratigraphy of the area, identify major structures and changes in structural level, and lead to a better understanding of the regional geological controls on mineralizing systems.
