Yukon contains eight sedimentary basins with the potential to host conventional oil and gas reservoirs. Seven of these basins occur within the sedimentary rocks of ancestral North America, and one (Whitehorse trough) occurs within Stikinia, a peri-cratonic terrane southwest of Tintina fault. Geological descriptions for each of these basins are provided by clicking on the above links.
