Karen MacFarlane

Karen joined the Yukon Geological Survey (YGS) in August 2008 on an 18 month interchange; she is on loan from the Northwest Territories Geoscience Office in Yellowknife. Karen will be helping revamp the YGS database structure with a focus on MINFILE.
In her early years as a geologist Karen worked for industry in the Northwest Territories, Yukon, Ontario and Central America. Upon returning from Panama in 1997 Karen made the move from industry to government and from warm climates to Yellowknife. Karen’s government role in Yellowknife began as a database geologist and morphed into the position of data manager and publications geologist.
Karen received her B.Sc. Geology from Lake Superior State University in Michigan and also has a Geological Technology Diploma from Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario.
