Senior Geological Assistant
Leyla has worked with the Yukon Geological Survey part-time since 1996. Leyla began her work with the survey doing research on the sedimentology and stratigraphy of placer gold deposits in glaciated areas of central Yukon. Since that time, Leyla has also worked in the private sector in mineral exploration on VMS deposits in central Yukon (Marg deposit) and the Pelly Mountains (Wolf deposit). Leyla took several years off to start a family and has now returned to the Yukon Geological Survey part-time. Her primary tasks are geological coordinator for the North American Data Model (NADM) at the Yukon Geological Survey, as well as associate editor for the Yukon Exploration and Geology annual publication.
Leyla completed a B.Sc. Honours degree at Carleton University in 1996. Her B.Sc. thesis involved the petrographic study and basin analysis of the Stormy Lakes Group, Western Superior Province, Ontario.
Leyla completed a M.Sc. thesis at the University of Calgary in 1999 on the sedimentology and stratigraphy of placer gold deposits, Haggart Creek, central Yukon.
