Project Leaders: Maurice Colpron, Renée-Luce Simard (PhD, Dalhousie University) and Elizabeth Westberg (MSc, Simon Fraser University)

Between 2002 and 2009, a series of independent detailed (1:50 000-scale) mapping projects were conducted in southeastern Laberge (105E) and adjacent Quiet Lake (105F) map areas. Collectively, these form a transect across Quesnellia and Yukon-Tanana terrane, from the Teslin fault to the western edge of the Cassiar terrane (displaced ancestral North America). Mapping of Quesnellia in the southern Semenof Hills took place in 2002-2003 (R.-L. Simard). In 2004-2005, M. Colpron mapped Yukon-Tanana terrane in the Livingstone area (105E/8). Mapping of the ‘Mendocina Creek’ area (105F/5; 2009) and the boundary between Yukon-Tanana and Cassiar terranes formed the basis for E. Westberg’s MSc thesis at SFU. A study of the d’Abbadie fault zone in the Livingstone map area is ongoing (in collaboration with Sharon Carr, Carleton University). These maps provide the framework for gold, base metals and tungsten mineralization in the area.
