Lara Lewis

Economic Geologist

Lara has worked with the Yukon Geological Survey (YGS) since 2001 as a field assistant, economic geologist and, most recently, with the Technical Services Unit. Three summers of bedrock geology mapping as a student in the Northwest Territories were capped off by a move to Whitehorse in 2000. After a brief summer of fieldwork with Hudson Bay Exploration Ltd. in 2001, Lara started working with the Yukon Geology Program. From 2002 to 2005, Lara worked as a field and office assistant on intrusion-related deposits with Craig Hart. In 2006, Lara began working with the Mineral Services Unit, looking at uranium occurrences and other mineral properties. She is currently acting in the position of Head of the Technical Services Unit, with responsibility for the YGS website, databases and publications.
Lara holds a BSc (honours) degree in geology from the University of Alberta (2000) and a BA in English from the University of Calgary (1994).
