Stevenson Ridge and northern Kluane Lake surficial geology project

Projects leaders: Jeff Bond and Panya Lipovsky

Overview map showing the study area map publication schedule

This project began in 2007 with the objective of investigating and mapping the Quaternary geology of the Stevenson Ridge (115J) and northern Kluane Lake (115G) map sheets. Field work took place over three field seasons during the summers of 2007, 2008 and 2010. Fifteen out of seventeen 1:50,000 scale map sheets have since been published. The study area is of particular interest because it straddles the Pleistocene glacial limits and includes a large area of unglaciated terrain. The area has also become an important focus for mineral exploration after recent discoveries in the White Gold district.
